Notary Attestation
The birth certificate is first attested by a registered Notary Public who verifies the document and applies their official seal and signature.
Home District Verification (if required)
Some cases require confirmation from the issuing municipal corporation or registrar of births before the state can attest the document.
GAD Attestation (Maharashtra)
The General Administration Department, Government of Maharashtra, attests the birth certificate at the state level.
MEA Attestation / Apostille
After GAD attestation, the certificate goes to the Ministry of External Affairs for an MEA stamp or Apostille sticker.
Embassy Attestation
For non-Hague countries, the birth certificate is attested by the destination country's embassy or consulate in India.
